Watersports

If you like the water, you're in a great spot. Rafting, kayaking, SUP,  & fishing options are at your fingertips. The most popular rafting trip is a half day trip along the Taylor River or the Gunnison River, with waters in the class II – class III range.  Also, be sure to check out Gunnison Whitewater Park.

If a nice mellow day on the water is your thing the valley has you covered. Located just minutes from the largest body of water in Colorado, Blue Mesa Reservoir, and covered with numerous alpine lakes there are lots of great options for day trips. Be sure to also check out Emerald Lake for great SUPing if you want to add some off-roading adventure to your day as well. Be sure to check out the route before going as a 4x4 is recommended!

Home of the annual Gunnison Growler bike race.

Just north, in Crested Butte, is several famous trails with magnificent views. The scenery is different in CB, much more plush and green than in Gunnison which is more high altitude desert. Check out the 401 or Doctor's Park.
